Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square, with its
old temples and palaces, epitomizes the religious and
cultural life of the people. Here, the kings of Nepal
are crowned and solemnized. Interesting things for
visitors to see are Taleju temple, gigantic figure of
Kal Bhairav (the god of destruction), Basantapur Durbar,
and Temple of Kumari (living goddess).
Swyambhunath Stupa (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
The world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas built 2000 years ago situated on a hillock about 77 meter above the level of the Kathmandu valley. Visitors will also have a grand view of the valley from this spot.
Patan Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
The square boasts of many famous sites and unique architecture. Krishna Mandir in the Patan Durbar Square was built to honor an incarnation of Vishnu. Krishna was a favorite among the gopini (cowgirls). His temple is the best example of stone architecture in the World. Scenes from the Mahabharat, Asia's greatest mythological war, are carved on the temple's walls.The streets in the Patan Durbar Square area are home to traditional artists and sculptors. Many more temples dedicated to Ganesh (the elephant-headed god), Shiva, Narsingha, Taleju, and others are located at Patan Durbar Square.
Changu Narayan Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
The temple complex of Changu Narayan, where Newari artisans carved beautiful stone carvings to Lord Vishnu in the sixth and seventh centuries. The stone still standing on the west side of the temple is said to be the earliest known inscription in Kathmandu Valley, recounting King Mandev’s military conquests in the fifth century.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Today Bhaktapur is known as the ‘open museum and a
‘living heritage. Brick paved enclave of the old royal
palace buildings dating back 13th to 14th centuries,
artistic temples and exquisite artwork offers a picture
of the grandeur of medieval Nepal. Bhaktapur will surprise
visitors with its presentation of innumerable temples and
other architectural showpieces - Nyatapola, Bhairavnath,
Dattatreya, Pujari math with peacock window and many more.
Chitwan National Park (CNP) – UNESCO World Heritage site
This is one of Nepal’s largest forest reserve with a wide range of
wildlife; the great one horned rhinoceros, several species of deer,
sloth bear, leopard, wild boar, fresh water dolphin, crocodile, more
than 350 species of birds and the elusive royal Bengal tiger. This is
one of the best-managed national parks in the world, which covers an
area of 1040 sq. km. It is situated 160 km southwest of Kathmandu.
Royal Chitwan National Park is the last home for about 250 remaining
endangered Asian one-horned rhinoceros.
Kathmandu Durbar square
It is the 17th century Hindu temples and palace complex. The important
ones are the temple of living goddess (Kumari Ghar), Shiva-Parvati
temple, Jagannath temple with erotic carvings, the statue of dreadful
Shiva and Kasthamandap-Kathmandu takes its name from this temple. Most
of the temples and Palace architectures are in Pagoda style and the
whole Palace Square is listed in World’s heritage sites.
Swayambhunath stupa
It is 2000 years old Buddhist shrine located on a hillock from where you will have a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu valley.
Patan Durbar square
Patan, “the
city of beauty”is full of Buddhist monuments and Hindu temples of 17th
century. The most important ones are The medieval Royal Palace,Krishna
Mandir and Bhimsen Mandir. The other places of interests are Golden
Temple, Kumbheswara temple, Tempel of million Buddha and Rudra Varna
Mahavihara.
Bhaktapur Durbar square
It is
also 17th and 18th century Hindu temples and palaces. The most
important ones are Taleju Bhawani Tempel, Pashupati Tempel, Nyatapola
and Bhairav Tempel. The other attractions are Pottery and Dattatreya
square where you can see the famous Peacock window of Nepal.
Pashupatinath
This is Shiva
shrine and all Shiva is from all over the world come to pay homage to
this shrine once in their life time. Since Lord Shiva being the god of
destruction, we have the cremation platforms beside this temple to
cremate the death bodies of Hindus and to perform the last rites. A
number of holy men Sadhus, yoga masters and Brahmans chanting the holy
Mantras can be observed here. It is also called the Banaras of Nepal.
Bouddhanath
This is the 5th
century Buddhist shrine. This is the largest Stupa in Nepal. Most of
the Monasteries of the surroundings belong to Tibetan Buddhist
Schools. In the evening thousands of devotees circumnutated the Stupa
chanting the holy Mantra OM MANI PADME HUM.
Budhanilkantha
It is 7 km
northeast of Kathmandu. It is a lying colossal Vishnu statue in black
stone. According to the stone inscription, it was carved in the 7th
century. Once a year November / December thousand of devotees worship
to Vishnu during the festival.
Kirtipur
It is situated 07 km south / west of Kathmandu, situated on a hill. It is an ancient
City and it has still preserved its ancient culture and tradition although it very near to modern Kathmandu.
Dakshankali
It is situated 22
km south/ west of Kathmandu. This temple is dedicated goddess Kali.
Animal sacrifices (male only) are made every Tuesdays and Saturdays
except 15 July to 15 August.
Bungamati & Khokana
Bungamati is 4 km west of Patan. In Bungamati there is temple of Rato
Machhendra Nath - god of rain. A month long festival of Rato Machhendra
Nath is held every year before the monsoon starts. Next to Bungamati is
Khokana village. Both villages are in habitat by Newari People and
preserve the traditional culture even today. This Khokana is pressing
mustard oil in a traditional way.
Dhulikhel
Dhulikhel is situated
30 km North-East of Kathmandu on the way to Tibet boarder. There is the
traditional Newari Village and Town. One can have beautiful view of the
central and eastern Himalayan range from the rooms of most of the
hotels.
Nagarkot
20 km from Bhaktapur, 32 Km east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot is situated on top of a ridge at an altitude of 2,099 meters above see level. It overlooks the majestic peaks of the Himalayas. On a clear day it provides unforgettable experience – the magnificent view of snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest.

Changunarayan
It is situated on
a hillock near Bhaktapur. It is the 5th century temple dedicated to
Vishnu. In the temple complex there are some exceptional sculptures of
7th / 8th century. Among the four holy Vishnu temple in the valley one
of them is Changu Narayan.
Gorkha
Gorkha is situated at the elevation of 1600m and 145 km South-West of Kathmandu.
There is original Palace of present Shah Dynasty. The word Gorkha used in British and Indian army is derived from this place.
Bandipur
Bandipur village is in
between Gorkha and Pokhara. It is still untouched area from the
westners. You will have good view of Himalaya and the valley.
Pokhara
Pokhara is situated
200km South- West of Kathmandu at the altitude of 850m. It is famous
for landscape, lakes and Mountain View. It is known as van ice of Asia.
Tansen
Tansen is situated 123
km Southwest of Pokhara at the altitude of 1600m. From there Dhaulagiri
and Annapurna range can be seen very clearly and at the close range.
Tansen town is typical and traditional Newari city and Model of ancient
Kathmandu.
Bardia National park
This National Park is situated in the terai and almost at the central
point of Nepal, which has an area of 986sq km.The park is home of
elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, other wild animals and about 400 species of
birds.
Chitwan National Park
This National park is situated in inner terai of Nepal which has an
area of 936sq km. It is home for one horned Asian Rhino, Royal Bengal
Tiger, rare and common wild animals, more then 500 migratory and
residential birds.
Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve
Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve is situated in the eastern part of Nepal
with an area of 175 sq km. It is famous for aqua birds and wild
buffalo's.
